Education is a basic human right that holds the key to unlocking potential and creating prospects. A lack of education has an adverse effect on an individual’s health, livelihood, and self-esteem. Children born into illiterate families are less likely to understand the value of education and abstain from education, which in turn inhibits their ability to actively participate in society and ultimately has a detrimental effect on overall socio-economic development. The Growth Center's Education program is dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth living in Msanja village and surrounding villages in Lilongwe - Malawi.
The Growth Centre runs a Primary school for children and a skill development program for the youth. We also run a feeding program for all children at the school. The feeding program encourages families to keep their children in school because they know they’ll be fed as it eases the pressure on families to search for children’s food. We feed these children by providing a daily nutritious porridge every morning when a child comes to school. The porridge is a nutritious blend of 7 different grains. This mixture provides the proper vitamins and nutrients to help the leaners concentrate in school without worrying about hunger.
The Malawi Growth Center believes that it is crucial to educate a child, promote and raise awareness of the importance of education, and provide a safe learning environment to enable the leaners reach their full potential. We believe it is essential to train all children and the youth with basic skills and help them build confidence to create opportunities and ultimately empower them to take control of their future. You can help us make the aspirations of every child come true by partnering with this program. Your donation will help us build more classrooms, and address proper sanitation and toilet blocks, textbooks, and resources for these children.
A large number of rural Malawi’s youth have little or no formal education, and they also don’t have technical or vocational training to enable them to acquire gainful employment or become self-employed. The vocational skills training for vulnerable urban youth program is intended to provide faith-based functional vocational skills to vulnerable youths. The target beneficiaries of this program are those who have either dropped out from basic school, graduated from high school, or are disabled people. Preference is also given to the enrolment of young women into the vocational skills program. The vocational skills training includes courses like masonry, plumbing, tailoring, and agro-vocational training.
Our faith-focused vocational skills program helps students build a firm foundation for life and work by growing in their knowledge of God and His Truth while also honing their vocational skills. We learn with a higher purpose, always focusing on Jesus Christ and His love for the world. We wholeheartedly believe in experiential, hands-on learning, which is why our unique faith-focused vocational training gives the youth opportunity to learn with a higher purpose. Our learners grow spiritually, while also having the opportunity to learn craft skills that will ultimate support their empowerment to be the light and good leaders of our communities.
