School Water Project

Clean water is a primary necessity for all human beings. Providing access to drinking water helps to increase students’ overall water consumption, maintain hydration, and reduce energy intake if substituted for sugar-sweetened beverages. Adequate hydration also may improve cognitive function in children. Lack of clean water has serious effects on student's academic performance and attendance rates. The lack of safe water can cause even the best students to lose momentum as they deal with stomach pains and diarrhea from disease and hunger.

The goal of this small project is to bring a clean, sustainable water supply to The Growth Center school. We believe that this water will unlock learners' potential by helping them stay healthy so they can stay in school. Finding water is a daily challenge for young girls, moms, and sons in the villages surrounding The Growth Center school. This pipe water project will also benefit many people in the villages surrounding The Growth Center. By making the process of collecting water more time-efficient, we're giving communities (especially girls and women) support to break the cycle of poverty for themselves as they will have more productive time.
